Itinerary
DAY 1: Early departure to Dover or Folkestone for the crossing to
Calais and on to Forbach for our overnight stop at the 3 star
Mercure Hotel.
DAY 2: Continuing our journey to Austria and on to Thalgau
reaching our hotel in the early evening.
DAYS 3 to 8: At leisure. Thalgau is a charming village with some
lovely walks. We have included the following excursions in the
holiday cost.
● An Austrian lakes tour
which will include
Mondsee, famed for the
"Sound of Music" wedding
church, Wolfgangsee and
Traunsee. These beautiful
lakes with their wonderful
settings are a must on a
tour to Austria
● A day tour that takes us
first to Gosausee with
spectacular views of the
Dachstein Mountains
before continuing to
Hallstadt. This charming
small town is built mostly
on stilts on the edge of the
lake. We then climb over
the Koppensattel Pass to
Bad Aussee to continue
our sightseeing before
returning to the hotel.
● Day tour to the small town of St Wolfgang nestled on the edge
of the lake. This town is well known as the setting for the "White
Horse Inn".
● We just could not leave out Salzburg, the setting for "The Sound
of Music", and Mozart’s birthplace. Our local guide will show us
the highlights of the movie, plus original Von Trapp family sights.
This baroque city is dominated by church steeples, quaint
courtyards, and magnificent buildings.
● Guided walking tour through the village
● Bingo evening with prizes
DAY 9: Time to leave Austria and head back to Forbach for our
last night
DAY 10: To Calais, crossing to Folkestone or Dover and home. |
