Itinerary

Day 1 Morning departure to Yorkshire and to the hotel for a four night stay.

Days 2 to 4 We have included the following excursions:

• Today you will board a train for a short single journey from Bolton Abbey to Embsay, on the Embsay and Bolton Abbey Railway. Afterwards travel to Skipton for some free time to explore some of the historical treasure the town has to offer. In the afternoon you will travel into the Yorkshire Dales to Masham for a tour and tasting at the Black Sheep Brewery which was established in 1992 but already a brewing legend.

• A visit to the traditional market town of Thirsk, which offers a blend of historic charm, picturesque landscapes and a typically English atmosphere. Famously associated with the vet and author James Herriot. After lunch you will travel to Eden Camp, and experience history come to life as you immerse yourself in the sights, sounds and stories of wartime Britain. Explore 22 original POW huts, each with a different theme showing the challenges and triumphs of wartime.

• All aboard for a wonderful train ride on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway through miles of beautiful national parkland scenery between Pickering and Grosmont. Then explore Whitby, a picturesque harbour town, with its famous clifftop abbey. The journey back is broken by a stop in Goathland, used as “Aidensfield” in the TV series ‘Heartbeat’.

Day 5 After breakfast, depart the hotel and commence the homeward journey.
