Lovely Lake Garda, Levico and the Dolomites

Day 1 Early morning departure for the journey to Dover and the crossing to Calais. On arrival you will travel to the Dijon area or similar for an overnight stop.

Day 2 Continuing the journey on into Italy and to Riva del Garda for a five night stay.

Days 3 to 6 You will have a free day to explore the historic town and harbour. Why not take a circular cruise on the lake to appreciate the beauty of the area. We have included the following excursions:

• A scenic drive of the Dolomites. You will head towards Moena, based in the heart of the Dolomites and ascend towards the vibrant town of Canazei. From here it is just a short drive to get to the ‘Sella Pass’ an incredible viewing platform where you can enjoy lunch and admire the amazing 360° views across the Dolomites with its spectacular jagged peaks. You will continue down into the alluring Val Gardena, a historic valley known for its wood making traditions and unique, ancient language, Ladin, which is only spoken here. Enjoy a break in the picturesque village of Ortisei, relax over a delicious plate of strudel or shop for one of the local specialities – handmade cuckoo clocks.

• An excursion to Lake Levico. Enjoy a peaceful and very scenic lakeside setting immersed in nature, boasting fine walks in the authentic elegant spa town of Levico Terme with a variety of shops, bars and places to eat which are only a 15 minute walk from lakeside. After free time and lunch, you will return to Riva.

• An excursion to the walled village of Lazise, with its paved lakefront promenade and fine sandy beach. Look at the church of San Nicolo, known for its frescoes and admire the Scaliger Castle or just stroll around the village and enjoy lunch. You will then travel to the medieval town of Malcesine, perched on the lake’s edge under the shadow of Monte Baldo. Explore the cobbled streets of the old town and its impressive castle or take the cable car to the summit for spectacular views across the lake.

Day 7 Time to depart Riva and head back into France and the hotel in the Dijon area or similar for an overnight stop.

Day 8 After breakfast, depart the hotel and commence the homeward journey.
