Yorkshire’s Gardens, Wensleydale Cheese and Train

Day 1 Morning departure for the journey north to Yorkshire and to the hotel for a four-night stay.

Day 2 Travel to Grassington in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales used as the fictional town of TV’s ‘All Creatures Great and Small. Afterwards you will travel to Thirsk. Here we have included a visit to the World of James Herriot where you will walk through his fully restored 1940’s home and surgery and travel back in time.

Day 3 A scenic journey through the Yorkshire Dales National Park to Hawes where we have included a visit to the Wensleydale Creamery for a Yorkshire Wensleydale Cheese Experience which starts with a cheesemaking demonstration and continues as a self-guided tour to learn about the thousand-year history of artisan cheesemaking in the Dales. You will travel to Leeming Bar to join the Wensleydale Railway for a return journey taking in the spectacular Yorkshire Dales scenery.

Day 4 A visit to RHS Garden Harlow Carr on the outskirts of Harrogate that captures the essence of Yorkshire within a beautiful garden setting. Highlights include the lavish Main Borders, bursting with generous prairie-style planting, and the lush moisture-loving plants around Streamside. Spend the afternoon in the town of Harrogate for free time to explore and maybe visit the famous Betty’s Tearooms.

Day 5 After breakfast, depart the hotel and commence the homeward journey.
