Itinerary

Day 1 Morning departure for the journey into South Wales and to Carmarthen for a three night stay.

Day 2 Today you will visit Aberglasney Gardens, one of the finest gardens in Wales, set in a serene and beautiful location. With 10 acres of magnificent gardens and a sub-tropical indoor garden in the mansion to investigate. Plenty of time to explore and have some lunch before returning to hotel mid-afternoon.

Day 3 This morning you will start the day at the must-see Llancaiach Fawr Manor living history museum where you will enjoy a guided tour. Set in the turbulent times of the Civil War, for you to experience the world of Colonel Pritchard and his servants, all dressed in period costume. In the afternoon, you make your way to the seaside resort of Tenby, from where you can indulge in fantastic views of Caldey Island, stroll around the pretty cobbled streets of the old town or simply relax on the beach and harbour area.

Day 4 After breakfast, depart the hotel and head off north pausing at Aberystwyth for a short stop before travelling to the beautiful village of Portmeirion. Created by the architect Clough Williams-Ellis from 1925 to 1975, he wanted to pay tribute to the atmosphere of the Mediterranean and show how a naturally beautiful site could be developed without spoiling it. At this unique attraction, you visit the lovely gardens, picturesque village and shops and perhaps enjoy a bite to eat in one of the six restaurants. You then continue the journey to Caernarfon, the location of your next hotel for a three night stay.

Day 5 Today you will travel to the “Queen of Welsh resorts”, Llandudno, where you spend time enjoying its beautiful Victorian architecture, Edwardian elegance, pier, shops and attractions. While there, enjoy a ride to the top of the Great Orme on the beautifully restored tram. In the afternoon, you continue the journey along the coast to the Menai Bridge, which takes you over the Menai Straits to Anglesey and the town of Beaumaris, home to Beaumaris Castle, regarded by many as the finest Edwardian castle in Wales. This pretty seaside town has a Victorian pier, pastel painted houses and a wide range of shops, tea rooms and pubs. On the way back to the hotel, a brief stop will be made at Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogog och station, otherwise known as Llanfairpwll for short, perhaps take a quick photo of the longest name in Britain!

Day 6 This morning enjoy a scenic trip on the Snowdon Mountain Railway, a narrow-gauge track and pinion railway that will take you from Llanberis to the summit of Mount Snowdon, the tallest peak in England and Wales. You will spend a little time taking in the view at the Summit Visitor Centre, before making the return trip to Llanberis. Spend the afternoon at leisure back at the hotel or exploring Caernarfon.

Day 7 After breakfast, depart the hotel and commence the homeward journey.
