Kentish Shopping, Canterbury & Chartwell

Day 1 Morning departure for the journey to Ashford in Kent and the hotel for a three night stay.

Day 2 This morning you will travel to Faversham, the oldest market town in Kent, recorded in the Domesday Book, bursting with history with 475 listed buildings and located on a winding creek. Time for you to explore and obtain lunch before continuing to the city of Canterbury. Enjoy time exploring and make sure you visit the magnificent cathedral.

Day 3 This morning you will head to Penshurst Place for a ‘winter behind the scenes’ tour. The medieval house will be dressed with freshly cut mistletoe and foliage gathered from the estate, and the head housekeeper will relay how the State rooms are cleaned and conserved over the winter after the tour enjoy seasonal refreshments around the fire in the Baron’s Hall. In the afternoon you will visit Chartwell House. Winston Churchill and Lady Churchill enjoyed many happy Christmases at Chartwell from 1922 until 1964. Explore the house and learn about the different traditions they shared with friends and family. Afterwards you will return to the hotel.

Day 4 After breakfast, depart the hotel and commence the homeward journey.
