Walking in the Lake District

Day 1 Morning departure for the journey north in to the Lake District and to the hotel in Shap for a four night stay.

Day 2 This morning, after a leisurely breakfast, you will travel to Windermere for your first guided tour of the holiday, which will last approximately 2 hours. Then you will have free time to explore the town after the walk. In the afternoon you will visit Ambleside with time to explore the town.

Day 3 Today you will travel to the Lake District National Park and begin your guided tour with commentary. This will also last for two hours. The walks are easy to medium level walks. There will be many extraordinary photo opportunities for you to take. After the walk you will travel to Penrith for lunch. In the afternoon you will stop at the famous Penrith castle to view and take more fabulous photos of the stunning scenery followed by a stop in Keswick for some free time.

Day 4 A visit to Kendal to explore the town and a chance to experience a little bit of Kendal mint cake. In the afternoon you will travel to Grasmere, where on your journey you will see Helvellyn (England’s third highest mountain at 3118ft) and various lakes on the way. Once in Grasmere you will have time to try some of its famous gingerbread and explore this lovely little village.

Day 5 After breakfast, depart the hotel and commence the homeward journey.
NB: On both walks, we recommend you wear a warm and waterproof coat as well as sensible walking shoes or boots.
