Day 1 Early morning departure for the journey to Dover for the ferry crossing to Calais and onto Forbach (or similar) for an overnight stop.
Day 2 Continue the journey to Austria’s Lake District area and to the hotel in Strass im Attergau for a five night stay
Day 3 Today visit and enjoy the beautiful scenery in and around Traunsee and Attersee. The city of Gmunden is known, among other things, as the place of origin of the “Gmundner ceramics”. Get a guided tour through the ceramic manufactory of Gmunden, where you can not only visit the different stations, but also experience the art of “painting”! Afterwards stroll through the quaint, romantic streets of this beautiful city and enjoy a lakeside lunch (not included) before visiting Schloss Ort. This is a complex of two castles on Lake Traunsee and is located on the island of Ort. It consists of the more well- known lake castle on the island and the country castle connected via the bridge. The Seeschloss is one of the oldest buildings in the Salzkammergut. Before heading back to the hotel, have some free time at Lake Attersee.
Day 4 Today you will experience Salzburg’s fairy-tale magic and explore its spectacular baroque sights, like the birthplace of Mozart in the famous Getreidegasse, the Church of the Holy Trinity, Salzburg Cathedral and St Peter’s Abbey. The tour will end at the pastry shop FÜRST, who is known as the inventor of the famous “Original Mozartkugel” Your tour guide will explain to you the procedure of the Mozartkugel making and a tasting is of course “a must”. Afterwards you have some free time in this historical city before returning to the hotel.
Day 5 This morning you will travel to St. Gilgen, the Mozart village, before joining a boat cruise across the lake to the famous pilgrimage town of St. Wolfgang. In St. Wolfgang you are invited to the "Weissen Rössl" for coffee and cake (not included) before exploring St. Wolfgang on a walk on your own. Afterwards enjoy a ride on the Schafberg Cog Railway, which dates back to 1893 to the Schafbergalm. It is the steepest cog railway in Austria and one of the oldest nostalgic steam engines in the world, covering nearly 6 kilometres and 1,190 meters altitude in 35 minutes. A fantastic panoramic view of Lake Wolfgang and the surrounding mountains awaits you.
Day 6 In the late 1800’s the spa town of Bad Ischl rose to fame when Emperor Franz Josef established his summer residence there. Wander the streets of this charming town and admire the Biedermeier style villas and with a tour of “Kaiservilla”, where the Emperor signed the declaration of war on Serbia, which started World War I. Afterwards continue to Hallstatt, which is one of Austria ́s most exquisite villages and a trademark scene of this beautiful country. With the Salzbergbahn you can quickly and easily reach the Hallstadt Skywalk from where you can enjoy in 360 m height a breathtaking view! (not included).
Day 7 Time to depart Strass im Attergau with happy memories and travel back to Forbach (or similar) for an overnight stop.
Day 8 After breakfast, depart the hotel and commence the homeward journey.
