Day 1 Early morning departure for the journey to Dover and the sea crossing to France. On arrival in Calais you will continue south to an overnight stop in the Forbach area or similar.
Day 2 You will continue your journey into Austria and to the village of Werfenwneg. Welcome drink will be served before dinner.
Day 3 Discover two highlights of the Salzburger Land combining history and regional flavour. A visit to Salzwelten Hallein takes you deep into the fascinating world of salt mining. Guided tours lead through historic tunnels, underground slides, and impressive chambers, revealing how “white gold” shaped the region for centuries. Afterwards, enjoy a visit to Hofkäserei Kuchl, a traditional dairy farm near Kuchl. Here you gain insight into artisanal cheese production, from fresh milk to matured specialties. A tasting of regional cheeses offers an authentic culinary experience and a perfect conclusion to this varied excursion, combining culture, tradition, and local taste in a relaxed, non-sportive setting.
Day 4 Enjoy an excursion to Salzburg, birthplace of the musical genius Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and the shooting location for “The Sound of Music”. Salzburg is known as one of the most beautiful baroque cities on the northern side of the Alps. Every year, it’s inimitable skyline – the fortress, the cathedral dome and numerous church spires – enchants visitors from all over the world. The large public squares, magnificent fountains and palaces were all modelled on Italian architecture of the age. The narrow lanes and passageways, the former “Residenz zu Salzburg” that housed the Prince-Archbishops, the cathedral quarter and the famous Mirabell Garden, all contribute to the unique charm of the city. All places of interest in the historical part of Salzburg can be explored ideally during a guided walking tour.
Day 5 Experience the beauty of Austria’s lake district on a scenic visit and round trip through the Salzkammergut. The tour begins at Mondsee, home to the famous basilica where the wedding scene from The Sound of Music was filmed. Continue to the Wolfgangsee with a stop in St. Gilgen, the birthplace of Mozart’s mother, where you can enjoy the picturesque lakeside setting and traditional village atmosphere. We have include a boat trip from St Gilgen to St Wolfgang before continuing on to the highlight of this excursion, the world-famous UNESCO village of Hallstatt, known for its historic houses, alpine scenery, and rich salt-mining heritage.
Day 6 Sadly it is time to leave for the journey back to France and to your overnight stop in the Forbach area or similar.
Day 7 After breakfast, depart the hotel and commence the homeward journey.
