Day 1 Morning departure for the journey north and to the hotel in Sheffield for a four night stay.
Day 2 This morning head for the market town of Bakewell, idyllically situated on the banks of the river Wye, the biggest town in the Peak District National Park, with mellow stone buildings, medieval five-arched stone bridge and quaint courtyards. Make sure you have a coffee and one of the famous Bakewell puddings. In the afternoon you will visit Crich Tramway Village, a period village museum where you enjoy travelling along the traditional village street in a vintage tram and marvelling at the spectacular views. See if you can spot an old Southampton tram.
Day 3 Today you will enjoy a scenic drive into the stunning Peak District, by way of Leek and Whaley Bridge to Glossop. Then travel along the Snake Pass to Ladybower Reservoir taking in some breath-taking views along the way (subject to Pass being open), and on to Castleton for some free time.
Day 4 You will start the day with a return 2 hour narrow boat cruise through the picturesque Derwent Valley. You will complete the morning with a visit to Matlock and have some lunch. Then to Sir Richards Arkwright’s Cromford Mills for a mill and village tour to hear the story of how in the 18th century the valley changed the world with the first successful water powered cotton spinning mill.
