Rhine Valley, Boppard

Day 1 Early morning departure for the journey to Dover for the crossing to Dunkirk. Travelling into Germany to Boppard for a five night stay.

Days 2 to 5 A day at leisure. Take a stroll along the Rhine promenade and explore the bustling, historic streets or indulge in one of the many cafés and beer kellars. You also have the use of the Bopparder guest card that gives you discounts on certain attractions. We have included the following excursions:

• You will travel to Brohl for a one-way journey on the Vulkan Express, a unique narrow gauge railway. The line meanders up through the Brohl Valley into the Eifel Hills, where dramatic rock formations were created during a period of volcanic activity. The 11 mile journey takes 90 minutes as the locomotives only reach a speed of 20 kilometres, climbing around 1,310 ft. In the afternoon continue to Koblenz situated where the Rhine and Moselle rivers meet, for free time.

• Travel to the pretty riverside town of Cochem, where you will embark on a circular cruise along the Moselle River enjoying views of Reichsburg Castle and the surrounding vineyards. The rest of the day will be in Cochem with time to explore the Old Town, made up of quaint squares, winding alleys and half-timbered buildings.

• A cruise from Boppard along the Rhine Gorge to St Goarhausen. Re-join the coach and travel to Rudesheim with its world famous ‘Drosselgasse’, a beautiful narrow street of restaurants, bars and shopping. Free time before travelling to the Neiderwald Monument for spectacular views of the Rhine. You then cross the river to Bingen by ferry and return to the hotel.

Day 6 After breakfast, depart the hotel and commence the homeward journey.
