Day 1 Morning departure for the journey west to Cornwall and to Newquay for a four night stay.
Day 2 This morning you will travel the short distance to Trerice House and Gardens, and experience life in an Elizabethan manor house. Wander through the rooms and discover the decorative plasterwork in the Great Hall and Great Chamber, pay close attention to the ceiling which inspired the knot garden and the overmantel where an endearing mistake can be found. Make sure you visit the gardens too. Return to Newquay for some free time in the town.
Day 3 A visit to Mevagissey this morning, a pretty fishing village, famous for its colour-washed houses with narrow streets and terraced houses that lead to the centre of the old Mevagissey where the distinctive twin harbour provides a haven for the many fishing boats that land their daily catch. Then on to Looe a picturesque fishing harbour rich in maritime history. Famous for its wide sandy beaches, harbour and home of the BBC series ‘Beyond Paradise’.
Day 4 Today you will travel to Padstow, a fishing port and resort on the west bank of the River Camel estuary. Take a stroll along its narrow streets, visit its fascinating little museum, 50 metres from the harbour side, which explains the history of the port and then perhaps enjoy some fish and chips at Rick Steins restaurant. After lunch you will travel to Bodmin Jail. Built in 1779 for King George III and the jail played an important role in Cornwall’s history.
Day 5 After breakfast, depart the hotel and commence the homeward journey.
