The countryside of Shropshire along the upper reaches of the River Severn and the borders between England and Wales, shelters some of the most unspoilt landscapes and towns.
Day 1 Morning departure for the journey to Shropshire arriving late afternoon at the hotel for a four-night stay.
Day 2 Today you will travel to the stunning town of Shrewsbury with its 660 listed buildings. Plenty of time to explore the town and spot the statue of Charles Darwin outside the library. Darwin was born in the town and went to Shrewsbury school. In the afternoon we have included a 45 minute round cruise along the River Severn for you to enjoy.
Day 3 The spectacular Ironbridge Gorge is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Enjoy a 1.5 Hour panoramic walking tour of the spectacular Iron Bridge following the River Severn. Plenty of delightful cafes enroute within the village if you wish to peel off from the tour. (Please note the walking tour will be on a flat and level surface). We then transfer to The British Ironworks Centre for the afternoon, whereby a cream tea has been included during your visit.
Day 4 This morning you will enjoy a scenic drive by way of Much Wenlock and the woods of Wenlock Edge to Church Stretton, the heart of the Shropshire Hills. A coffee stop will be made before travelling to Stokesay Castle. This is one of the finest and best preserved fortified medieval manor houses in England and has stunning views of the beautiful Shropshire countryside.
Day 5 After breakfast, depart the hotel and commence the homeward journey.
Located on the edge of the market town of Shifnal and set in a 17th century period property in a beautiful historic setting. All bedrooms are en-suite with TV, WiFi, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. Lift, bar, lounge, Starbucks and restaurant.
