Itinerary

Day 1 Early morning departure for Dover and the ferry crossing to Calais and on to the overnight stop near Reims.

Day 2 Continue the journey crossing the border into Germany and onto the hotel for a four night stay.

Day 3 Enjoy a morning visit to the Black Forest’s capital of Freiburg, one of Germany’s prettiest Old Towns. Time at leisure to explore its rich history and cultural heritage. Medieval houses,  picturesque squares and tempting cafes and at its heart, the stunning Gothic cathedral with soaring spires and intricate architecture. After lunch, return to the hotel for wine tasting and time to relax before dinner.

Day 4 Head for the picturesque Alsace town of Colmar where you will enjoy a short tour of this pretty old town aboard the Little Train of Colmar. Afterwards, you will make our way to the Colmar
Chocolate Museum where you will be treated to an ‘All Chocolate Workshop’ with a professional chocolatier and the chance to make your own chocolate delicacies to take home. The afternoon is free to further explore the town’s quaint cobblestone streets lined with half-timbered medieval and early Renaissance buildings before returning to the hotel.
NOTE – This day will require a certain amount of walking as coaches cannot enter the old town of Colmar. Workshops are limited to 25 pax per hour, so larger groups will be split into 2 with the other half visiting the museum and then changing places.

Day 5 Full day at leisure in Basel to explore this wonderful city – a mix of ancient and modern with plenty to experience. Highlights include the famous and well-preserved Old Town with its charming narrow alleyways, majestic Townhall and the Munster built 800 years ago in Romantic and Gothic styles. There is a choice of lunch spots including urban food courts, cosy pubs and restaurants overlooking the river and the town is also home to the vast Christmas Shop, where you might find everything for a perfect Christmas!
NOTE – Passports are required for this excursion

Day 6 Time to leave Germany and journey back towards Reims for an overnight stay.

Day 7 After breakfast, depart the hotel and commence the homeward journey.
